Spinach Pie

I am a huge fan of Nigella Lawson and her express ways of cooking. She shows how efficiently you can cook up a hearty meal in no time with store bought ingredients, rather than starting from scratch. I made Spinach Pie from only 4 ingredients ( with salt and pepper ofcourse ). In Italian, any kind of savory pie is called torta salata.

So, roll up your sleeves…. I am showing how I made my torta salata con spinaci I.e. Spinach Pie.

Ingredients:

1. A circular piece of puff sheet
2. Frozen spinach
3. Onion
4. Potato

Chop the onion, peel the potatoes and cut into thin layer. Heat butter in a frying pan. A tip: don’t heat butter alone, always mix a little bit of white oil, the butter won’t burn. Next fry the onions till translucent. Add spinach and potato, sauté till cooked. Set aside and let the mixture cool.

Now unroll the puff sheet. Spread the spinach mixture in the middle. I made simple pleats around the spinach, but you can go for any fancy wrapping 🙂

It goes to the preheated oven. 180 degree Celsius – 15 to 20 minutes.

Ummm… The smell!!!! Wonderful…. So you see a hearty pie with minimal effort and a quick weeknight meal 🙂
